Nenäpäivä shopping bag designed by the world's children.
Nenäpäivä asked the children of the world to draw a picture of themselves or about their friends. The photos created a happy t-shirt in collaboration with Pure Waste. Buying this shopping bag two children will get to school for a year in Burkina Faso.
The print of the good-doing shirt brings together ten funny characters that emerge from a children’s pen on four different continents. These pictures were drawn by 6-year-old Ester from Kenya, 8-year-old Mahesh from India and 4-year-old Ebbe from Finland
Nenäpäivä 11/13/2020 is a fun way to help the children of the world. This year, Nenäpäivä funds will support children's education, health, safety and nutrition in a total of 17 different countries in Asia, Africa and South America. Thanks to Finnish donations, the lives of millions of children have already been improved. As more than a million children have been supported in schooling and more than two million people have been promoted healthy.
UNICEF, the Finnish Red Cross, the Church's Foreign Aid, Save the Children, Plan International Finland, Fida International, Solidarity, the Finnish Trade Union Solidarity Center SASK and the Finnish Mission Society are supporting Nenäpäivä. Yle supports Nenäpäivä with its program activities.
Made of 100 % recycled raw materials.
• 60 % recycled cotton • 40 % recycled polyester
Please note that our recycling process is not entirely clinical and our products may contain small amounts of different coloured fibers. In dark colours, fibers of different colours do not stand out, but in light colours they are more easily visible. For us, these little coloured fibers in our fabric are a feature that reminds us of the uniqueness and origin of our products.

Challenging the clothing industry
Collecting and sorting waste
Pure Waste products are made of 100% recycled raw materials. The main raw material, cotton cutting waste, is collected from cut, make and trim (CMT) factories and then sorted by quality and colour.
Each quality and colour batch is mechanically opened into fibres. The colour of the waste defines the colour of the final product. No dyeing is needed.
The mechanically opened cotton waste is mixed with chemically recycled polyester fibres from PET bottles.
The mixed fibres are spun into yarns. This part of the process is the same as when spinning fibres from virgin material.
Knitting and weaving
The yarns are knitted or woven depending on the final use of the fabric.
Depending on the final use of the fabric, the finishing process can include different stages such as compacting, brushing and washing.
This process consists of the cutting, making and trimming of the final product.
Finally, we get sustainable good quality garments that use 99% less water and generate 50% fewer CO2 emissions in the production process than similar products made of virgin materials.
